What is Personal Data?
Personal data refers to information about personal or factual circumstances that relate to or can be traced to a specific person, such as name, postal address, email address, and similar information.
Collection and Processing of Personal Data
For those who visit the Auction House’s website, the Auction House automatically saves the IP address assigned to the visitor, the referring webpage, the time and duration of the visit, and all information related to bidding. Additionally, information about how the customer interacts electronically with the Auction House and how the website is used is stored. Personal data concerning name, address, and other contact details may also be obtained from publicly available sources. For those who register as bidders, credit information may also be obtained in accordance with applicable legislation. In certain cases, additional personal data may be obtained from external sources.
In order for the Auction House to fulfill its legal obligations under the Swedish Second-hand Goods Trading Act (1999:271), information such as personal identification number or date of birth, as well as verification information (e.g., a copy of an ID document), is collected when consigning an item for sale.
Personal and bank account information provided during the sale of an item is stored in accordance with the Swedish Bookkeeping Act (1999:1078) and is used to process payments to your bank account following a completed sale.
The Auction House cooperates with police authorities in Sweden and the EU and may, if legally required, provide information to relevant authorities.
Use and Transfer of Personal Data
The Auction House uses the personal data provided and otherwise collected to the extent necessary for technical administration and development of the Auction House’s website, administration of auction bids, handling of other customer-related matters, statistics, customer analysis, and internal surveys, as well as legal data disclosure and fulfilling other tasks of public interest. For those who do not expressly prohibit this, provided and otherwise collected personal data may also be used to inform you about the Auction House's services.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored on the visitor’s hard drive. They facilitate navigation on the Auction House's website and improve user-friendliness. The Auction House uses cookies to track visitors' preferences and to design the website optimally. The Auction House also uses cookies to identify whether a visitor has previously visited the website. It is only the cookie stored on the visitor's device that is identified. Visitors can still browse the Auction House’s website without cookies by adjusting their browser settings.
Confidentiality
The Auction House treats personal data provided and collected as strictly confidential, with the exceptions stated below. Such personal data is not provided to any government authority, private company, or individual unless required to fulfill the Auction House's contractual obligations to customers. Otherwise, personal data is only disclosed to the extent required by law. Data may also be disclosed after a balancing of interests in each individual case, to fulfill tasks of public interest. In these cases, the data is only disclosed to the extent necessary for the specified purpose. Additionally, the Auction House may disclose personal data if it engages external service providers to perform tasks on behalf of the Auction House. A condition is that these service providers have a data protection policy that at least matches this policy regarding the protection of personal data. The Auction House never discloses personal data to third parties for marketing purposes unless the individual explicitly agrees to such disclosure. All employees and contractors of the Auction House who handle personal data have been informed of confidentiality and have agreed in writing to follow this policy.
How Long Is Personal Data Stored?
Personal data is stored for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected. If the individual requests it, the collected personal data is immediately destroyed unless the Auction House must store the data to fulfill agreements, legal obligations, or other requirements by law or to fulfill public interest tasks. In such cases, the data is stored for as long as required to fulfill the agreements or legally mandated reporting obligations (normally for ten years) or for public interest tasks (in such cases, data may be stored for more than ten years). Public interest tasks primarily concern cultural-historical documentation, provenance data, and data that may be relevant for criminal investigations. By providing such data to the Auction House, the individual agrees that the data may be stored for the specified purposes.
Where is Personal Data Stored?
Personal data provided and otherwise collected is stored in Sweden and/or other countries within the EU, EEA, or the United Kingdom. Names and email addresses, but no other personal data, may also be stored in the USA to the extent required for sending newsletters and invitations. Agreements ensure that the same data protection is applied as per the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation.
